  • The K-5 Remote Learning Evening Program

     

    Will K-5 Remote Learning Evening Program continue when On-Campus instructions begins?
    Yes. Students who wish to return to on-campus instruction will have the opportunity to do so, but the K-5 Remote Learning Evening Program will continue for any student interested in remaining in the program.

    What is the K-5 evening remote learning option?
    A remote learning evening option is offered as an additional option to accommodate the scheduling needs of our families.  Students will be dual-enrolled in their assigned home schools and in a remote evening option but will participate in the evening option. However, your child may  not  be taught by a teacher from your home school during the evening remote learning session.  Live class sessions for the remote learning evening option will occur Monday-Friday from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm.

    When the remote learning period ends, students may transition back to their home schools for face-to-face instruction if they choose. Parents who select this option must agree to their child participating in the evening option throughout the remote learning period.

    What will the evening remote learning program include?

    • Monitoring and supporting student attendance, participation, and engagement with remote learning teachers, including attending daily instruction and  assignment(s) submission
    • Ensuring students are complying with district policies and regulations, including the Student Handbook, Code of Conduct, and any applicable attendance and grading policies and regulations
    • Notifying schools of health or medical conditions affecting student attendance
    • Maintaining and engaging in communication with teachers providing virtual instruction
    • Communicating issues with a district-provided student learning device to school officials
    • Assuring student learning takes place in compliance with the district’s Academic Honesty provision

    How do I register for the K-5 evening Remote Learning Option?
    Interested families may register by completing the link here on the on the Back-to-School Playbook webpage. Students new to the district must first enroll in their zone school prior to completing the registration link. The registration link will direct parents to the Infinite Campus portal to opt into this option.

    ATTENTION! New Parent Portal Account Users:  If you are identified as the student's guardian, click HERE to receive an electronic copy of the GUID activation code needed to activate your Parent Portal account.  In order to proceed, you will need to know your child's student number, last four of his/her social security number, and his/her date of birth.  Once you have secured your personalized GUID activation code, click this New User link to create your Parent Portal account.  This is a one-time process.  Once your account is created, you may access the survey in your Parent Portal Inbox.

    What subjects will be taught during the evening remote learning option?
    Students will receive instruction in all content areas to include English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts and Health and PE.  Special education services or programs  will be provided if students qualify and determined on an individual basis.  Due to the nature of the service, some services  may only be offered at a different/earlier time of the day.

    What is the schedule for the evening remote option?  

    Schedule Examples

    Monday/Wednesday
    • 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm - Special (Art/ Music)
    • 4:50 pm - 6:15 pm - ELA
    • 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm - Social Studies

    Up to 1 hour of independent work will be assigned and can be completed prior to the evening instructional sessions. Special educational services or programs will be provided if students qualify and determined on an individual basis. However, some services may only be offered at a different/earlier time of the day.

    Tuesday/Thursday

    • 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm - Special (PE)
    • 4:50 pm - 6:15 pm - Math
    • 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm - Science

    Fridays (4:00 pm to 7:00 pm) will be reserved for additional services, small groups, intervention, and enrichment activities.

    How is this option different from the day option?
    The evening option is a district approach where students  and teachers will be from a variety of schools.  Due to this unique approach, a variation of scheduling models could occur such as multi-age classes. Additionally, larger class sizes might also occur.  While core instruction will occur at the designated times with push-in or collaborative support services where possible, specialized services could occur at a different point in the day.  This cannot be determined until after the registration process is complete and the amount of interested students is determined. 

    Will a teacher from my home school be the teacher for the evening option?
    No, the teacher may not be from your home school.  The students and teachers for this option will be from a variety of schools across the district. 

    What resources will be used?
    The same instructional resources will be used for the evening option. Parents should pick up the school resources from their home schools at the time the home school has designated. That designated time during the week of August 3rd or the week of August 10th.  Please check with the home school to determine the time in which resources should be picked up. When the remote learning period ends,  those resources should be returned back to the home school.
