     About Mrs. Coltharp

My name is Tammy Coltharp and I am very excited to be teaching second grade and especially being your child's teacher.

To tell you a little about myself, I have a wonderful husband named Tom, in which I have been married to for 28 years.  I also have three wonderful children: Joshua (age 24), Caroline (age 21), Emily (age 20), and two dogs named Harley and Astro.

My children are very active young adults.   Joshua just graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Criminal Justice and he is also serves as a United States Marine Reservist (Semper Fi).

My daughter, Caroline, is a senior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in accounting.  She also works part time and is active in her sorority, Zeta Tau Apha.

My youngest daughter, Emily, will be a junior at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga where she is pursuing a degree in Human Resources and she also plays softball for the university.

Covid 19 did change my status as an "empty nester", to having a more revolving door with my children going back and forth to their universities and also learning from home remotely.  But honestly, this mom has enjoyed the presence of having my children at home more.

So for a little background information on me.. I did move here from the BIG state of Texas, but my home is originally from Mississippi. I graduated from Mississippi State University in 1992 with a degree in Marketing.  In 2006 I received my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix and have been teaching ever since.  I completed my gifted endorsement in 2017. In my spare time, I enjoy spending it with my family, gardening, and reading (my devotion, Francine Rivers books, and decorating magazines.).

I became a teacher because I realized shortly after I became a mother, that helping children grow socially, emotionally and academically, is one of the most important, yet rewarding jobs. Again, I am excited to be part of your child's life as their teacher and I know it is going to be a great year.
