About Coach Ivey

Hi!My name is Phillip Ivey and welcome to The McDonough High School.  I am so excited to be a part of the Warhawk family.  I am a Walton County native and a 2007 graduate of Monroe Area High School. I graduated in 2011 from Baptist Institute of America with my Bachelor's degree and I am currently working on my master's degree from Clayton State University. This will be my tenth year in education. I spent six years at Social Circle Middle School, two years at Stockbridge Middle School, and I am now entering my second year here at McDonough High School. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I also enjoy coaching. I have coached middle/high school football, middle/high school basketball, and middle/high school golf. I currently serve as the Head Boys and Girls Golf coach here at McDonough High School. In my free time, I enjoy fishing, playing golf and also cheering for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Auburn Tigers, and the Atlanta Falcons. I am married to my beautiful wife Hannah, who is also a teacher at Ola Elementary School. We are proud to be a part of the Henry County Schools family and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at
