    Course Description

    The goal of Family and Consumer Science is to provide all students with an introduction to the Family and Consumer Sciences Career Pathways. The FACS career pathways are Nutrition and Food Science, Consumer Services, Interior and Fashion Design, and Family, Community, and Global Leadership. Culinary Arts career pathway is Culinary Arts. Education career pathways are Early Childhood Education and Teaching as a Profession. Students will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for success in any of the career pathways. Exposure to career possibilities in each area will allow students to successfully integrate their own interests into a career plan. 

    In this course, middle school students will experience a variety of activities that will promote self-awareness, leadership, development of skills needed to achieve personal goals relating to family, home, career, and community

    School Wide Classroom Rules and Expectations

    1. Be prepared and on time.                                                                                                                         
    2. The Teacher dismisses the class.                                                                                                               
    3. Students are to enter google meets with their camera and microphone off.                                                                         
    4. Respect yourself, others and property.                                                                                                       
    5. Follow the Henry County Code of Conduct.

    If any rule is not followed or respected by a student during class period, the following steps will be taken:                                                                                                                       

            1.Verbal warning may be given                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          2. Contact parents.  

            3. Administrative referral.

    WORK ETHICS / PARTICIPATION                                                                                   

    CLASSWORK -These assignments to are be completed during your class timeframe,. Click the turn in button to the teacher before you sign out of the classroom unless otherwise informed.  As directed by the teacher, classwork may be carried out in groups or individually. A specific answer key for the assignment will determine your class-work grade. 

    Assignments/TESTS/ Projects: Students will work on projects during class time. Absent students are responsible for making up assignments within 5 days of returning. 


    Being Prepared for Class: All students should have necessary materials for class. Enter the google meets with your camera and microphones off.  

    Classtime:  All students are asked to sign in during your class time for daily attendance.

    Google Classroom:  Students are to submit all assignments in Google Classroom.  Please be sure to attach the assignment then click turn in.  Assignments will be graded and returned.

    Class Dismissal:  Teacher will dismiss class.

    Grading Scale:


    Assessments 40% Participation 40% Final 20%

    90-100 A 89-80 B 79-75 C 74-70 D 69- Below F
