Chief Karren Kelly
  • Eagle's Landing HS 2020-21 Teacher of the Year

Chief Petty Officer Karren Kelly, United States Navy, Retired has been teaching since 2008. She joined the Eagle’s Landing High School, McDonough, GA, Naval Science program in 2014 after serving her country for nearly 22 years as a Hospital Corpsman and 4 years in another school district. Upon retiring from the Navy, her desire to serve was not done so she completed the requirements to earn her permit to teach Naval Science. Her passion for teaching began while serving her country when she was asked to teach various training classes and while recruiting students for college scholarships. She earned an Associate of Science in Education from Georgia Military College then she went on to get a Technical Bachelors in Psychology from Charleston Southern University and later a Masters in Management with an emphasis in Human Resource from Troy University. She continues to use her degrees to inspire students to follow their passion and make a career doing what they love. One of her favorite sayings to the students is, “It is not how you found it, but how you leave it"; challenge yourself to LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE and leave a legacy. Chief Kelly feels honored to have had two careers that allowed her to live her best life while inspiring others to do the same.
