• Fun Sight Word Activities

Write sight words on craft sticks. Write BOOM on two craft sticks. Turn all sticks face down. Player one picks a stick and reads the word if correct player one keeps the stick and its player two’s turn. Play continues until the BOOM stick is chosen. Once the BOOM stick is chosen all sticks from all players go back into the middle and the game starts over. (this is a never-ending game)

    Run For It

Put sight word cards out on the floor at the opposite end of the room from where you are standing. The caller calls out a word, the runner runs down and collects the correct word. If the incorrect word is chosen it must be returned. The game ends when all words are collected. You can also reverse the game by having your child run down and bring a word back. If it is read correctly they keep the word if not the word goes back and they try for a new word.

    Sight Word Bingo

Make a bingo board using nine sight words at a time. Stick -on Velcro would work great then you would only have to make one board that can change with the new sight words we are studying. Stick -on can be found at local craft stores as well as Wal-Mart.

You can go to the website www.kellyskindergarten.com and make all kinds of fun sight word games to print out.

    Scavenger Hunt
