Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year at Austin Road Elementary School!
I am Barbara Patrick, the Parent Involvement Professional (PIP). My job is to be a liaison between home and school in order to support and encourage all parents to be fully engaged in the academic pursuits of their children. At Austin Road Elementary (ARE), we want families to be active participants in the life of the school and feel welcomed, valued, and connected to each other, to school staff, and to what students are learning and doing in class.
We strive to work in partnership with you to support your child’s learning both at home and school. In the classroom, we encourage meaningful, ongoing communication with your child’s teacher(s). Outside of the classroom, we offer many opportunities for support.
We conduct a variety of workshops, parent meetings, and activities to support our academic goals. This year things will be structured different from past years. As we all know, Covid19 has turned many things upside down. At this time, all workshop and parent meetings will be virtual. I am going to try my best to keep it fun and exciting!
In addition, we maintain a Family Resource Center (FRC), which is accessible to any ARE parent, guardian, or caregiver. There are dozens of items available for checkout, at no cost to you, to use at home with your child. Resources include games, flashcards, books, and other activities for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Resource checkout will be by appointment only and a mask is mandatory. Please e-mail me if you would like to schedule an appointment to check out resources.
We look forward to working with you to help ensure the academic success of our students.
