Name: Arlene Berry
School: New Hope Elementary
Position: Personalized Learning Lead
Principal: Micki Foster
Principal Foster shared this about Arlene:
Arlene is an exceptional educator! I would say she is definitely a major part of the backbone of our school. She shies away from the spotlight but she has a direct impact on our success. She is truly passionate about professional development, student growth, literacy, and showcasing student learning. She is a leader in our building with a tremendous work ethic. On any given day, you will find her scheduling something whether it is the grade level schedule for our Reading Buddies program, visitors to NHE, professional development or Curriculum Nights. She is a literacy leader in our school as she coordinates Literacy Days and the Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Program. She works with the admin team to devise our professional development calendar for the year and she redelivers professional development monthly. She coordinates the tech programs we use and adds/deletes students and troubleshoots any concerns from teachers. She assists the admin team with monitoring the fidelity of our MTSS program, sends out the daily GRASP info, and trains all new staff members on Fountas and Pinnel. This year she has worked cohesively with our new teachers modeling lessons in their classrooms as well as working alongside them to perfect small group rotations and using data to inform instruction. Arlene is reflective and will pitch in to do whatever is needed to get the job done. She meets with teachers to write grants for the school and once we get the grants, Arlene is the one who purchases materials with the grant money and completes all necessary paperwork. We are better at NHE because of Arlene! I am so thankful to have worked alongside her for the past eight years!
