About Mrs. Caldwell
Alexandrea Caldwell has been performing, perfecting, and providing music on the violin since age eleven. Raised around Appalchain folk musicians, she developed a keen love for music that peaked a deeper interest as she picked up the violin. Throughout her Middle School and High School years, she strived for perfection in the art of music. Her work ethic provided opportunites to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference in Savannah, the Governor's Mansion, two workshops with the Jupiter String Quartet at Spivey Hall, and various local gigs. During that time, she also participated in two Honor Orchestra workshops at Spivey Hall as Assistant Concertmaster and performed as a soloist with TSO's founding members Mark Wood.
Mrs. Caldwell went on to study violin with Nina Lutz, Eastman graduate, at Valdosta State University for two years before finishing her college education studying with Dr. Christos Galileas, Julliard graduate, at Georgia State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree (BM) with a concentration on Music Education. Her work as a private violin instructor and guest clinician to the Fayette Youth Philharmonic assisted in preparation for her current work as a High School Orchestra Director in Stockbridge, Georgia. Caldwell’s view on music through education and performance centers around passion for the art. As maestro Itzhak Perlman says, “Never miss an opportunity to teach; when you teach others, you teach yourself.” As a teacher, she remains a student to music.
