    Greetings Ola Mustangs,

My name is Donald Helm and I am honored and blessed to be a part of the Mustang family here at Ola Middle School. I look forward to helping all students reach their true potential and continue on the path to be lifelong learners. My main duties here at Ola will be focused on ensuring our 8th graders have a successful year and a seamless transition to the high school.

I will be starting my 12th year in education. Previously, I was at Veterans Middle School in Covington where I taught Math at all levels. During my time in the classroom, I took a data-driven approach to ensure all students reached their full potential. While I was there I also had the opportunity to be the head football coach and assistant wrestling coach.

I graduated from Newton High School in 2000. After high school, I attended Shorter College, now University, and obtained a Business Administration degree. I spent several years in the business world and decided something was missing and made the shift into education. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Masters in Secondary Education with a focus on Mathematics. In 2016 I earned my Specialist in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.

Through effective communication and hard work, we can ensure that our students have the best year possible. I look forward to meeting everyone. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

“It is a great day to be a Mustang!”
