Greetings Parents and Families of McDonough Middle School (MMS):

My name is LaRita Wiggins, and I’m extremely excited to join the staff of MMS as the new Principal. I am very passionate about education, and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our learners with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality middle school experience. It is our vision to provide a premier personalized learning experience that promotes powerful learning for purposeful living.

Before joining HCMS/MMS, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles during the past 17 years. Some of the roles I have held include Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies and Math teacher, Language Arts Department Chairperson and Coach, Administrative Assistant for Curriculum and Instruction, and Middle Grades 6-8 Assistant Principal. My academic background includes an Education Specialist in Leadership and Organizational Development, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Bachelor of Arts in History, and additional certifications in Educational Leadership, Gifted Education and Reading.

I believe that great schools are the results of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every learner is receiving high-quality instruction from every teacher at MMS. In order to do this, I will be providing teachers with feedback on their instruction, access to professional development, and reaching out to parents for support with academic and behavioral concerns to ensure our learners are college and career ready.

I will be working closely with our Leadership Team to guarantee that all of our learners are intellectually challenged and have access to the social and emotional support critical to students during the middle school years. Please get involved with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to ensure that your voices are heard or send me an email directly at LaRita.Wiggins@henry.k12.ga.us.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families in this role!

    Together we will SOAR! #WarHawkpride

    Educationally yours,

    Mrs. LaRita J. Wiggins
