Henderson, Sherrell

My name is Dr. Sherrell Henderson and I would like to welcome your child my 7th Grade Social Studies/Science class! This is my 22nd year of teaching. I hold the capacity of Austin Road Middle School 7th Grade Social Studies/Science Teacher on Academy R, ARMS International Trips Coordinator, and Reading Interventionist. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education Fort Valley State University, a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, an Educational Specialist Degree in Brain Research, a Doctoral Degree in Instructional Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a Gifted Education Certification from the University of Georgia. I am highly certified in Middle Grades (4-8) Social Studies, Science, Reading, Gifted Education and Early Childhood Education (K-5). I have previously taught grades 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and grades 9th-12th in an alternative school setting. 

I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your scholar this year. Children learn what they live. When your child sees his/her life surrounded by caring and attentive parents and school staff, he/she will surely join with us to help make this the best year yet! 

In closing, today you and I have become partners in one of the most important jobs we have—helping your child to become all he or she can be. It is an exciting, challenging and a terrifically rewarding one! As we form a partnership for this year, I would like your involvement as well.  I feel that in today's society, a strong educational background is a necessity for a secure and successful future. Scholarss must remember that they are the ones who must take advantage of opportunities presented. This means that students must exercise self-discipline, assume responsibility, and exert effort if they are to achieve the educational standing that we all truly desire. I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s Social Studies and Science teacher this year at Austin Road Middle School, and I’m looking forward to an exciting year and rewarding partnership with you.
