    Welcome to THE GROVE,
I am Ms. Williams and this is my 18th year teaching in Henry County, however my first year at UGHS. I have taught students on the Autism Spectrum for the last 20 years. I was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware... THE FIRST STATE! Where's that? My home state is located south of Philadelphia, PA, north of Baltimore, MD, and east of Washington, D.C. I graduated from Wilmington University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Special Education. In 2008, I went back to school. I attended Nova Southeastern University, graduating with my specialist degree with a concentration in brain-based learning (BrainSMART).
In my classroom, we use a highly effective behavior management system, I referred to as The KEY. This system is The KEY to reaching our students' desired goals and individualized expectations. Each student is held accountable for his or her behavior every period, every day, every week. As a result, the students are rewarded intermittently as well as having an opportunity to earn at the end of the week. My students typically respond well to positive reinforcement, academically and socially. The KEY is bright in color and given every Monday morning, so please lookout for it.
I am excited about the 2020-2021 school year here at UGHS, even though this is a different season in our lives. Please remember high school is a challenging and exciting time for my students; I do my best to make every experience a positive and rewarding one here at THE GROVE. Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, and/or concerns. I look forward to a successful year together!
    Ms. Tammy Williams
