Savannah Word and Rob Bowen spent several weekends fundraising for the Henry Hurricanes, the interscholastic wheelchair athletic program for Henry County students with physical disabilities. The Hurricanes compete in handball (soccer), basketball and football throughout the school year. The goal of Savannah and Rob’s fundraising effort, “Football for All”, is to ensure that the Henry Hurricanes have the necessary funds to play football in 2012. This past weekend while volunteering at the state handball championships, Savannah and Rob presented a check to the Henry Hurricanes in the amount of $2,470!!!

Aside from just fundraising, over the past two years these two dedicated seniors have volunteered numerous hours during Saturday morning Home Games to running the game clock and keeping the score sheets for the Hurricanes in all three sports. Savannah and Rob are worthy of recognition for their efforts and the Henry Hurricanes are extremely honored to have two of Henry County’s finest students representing our team!
