Stockbridge Elementary has been named one of the 2011 Georgia Schools of Excellence in Student Achievement by State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge. There are a total of 26 schools that received awards across the state for either greatest gain in scores or highest achievement in their respective congressional district.
Each school receiving the distinction will also receive a check from Georgia Natural Gas. The donated funds can be used however the school deems most beneficial.
Stockbridge Elementary received their recognition for greatest gains in their test scores. This covers a three year period of testing and scores in reading and mathematics. Since 2009, the school saw a ten point gain in mathematics and a four point gain in reading.
“We are very proud of the students, staff, and community of Stockbridge Elementary School,” stated Superintendent Dr. Ethan Hildreth. It is an outstanding achievement to be one of only thirteen schools in the state of Georgia to earn recognition as a 2011 School of Excellence for Greatest Gains. This helps to reinforce the data-driven improvement efforts and good work being employed by schools in Henry County.”
