“What’s Working in Henry County”
Work-Based Learning Student of the Month – Henry County Schools
HENRY COUNTY, GA – Henry County high schools’ Work-Based Learning initiative is dedicated to providing high school students with valuable work experience and career guidance. Henry County Schools has a very active program in each of its nine high schools, and this is the seventh in a series of ‘Student of the Month’ recognitions.
The recipient for July’s recognition is Camille Cameron, a 2012 graduate of Union Grove High School.
Though Cameron has received her diploma and is headed to college, the impact she had as a student in the Work-Based Learning program at Union Grove High School was not lost on her teacher, Joy Cox.
“Camille was always very driven to do her very best both at school and at work,” said Cox. “She took great pride in her work and was very mature and dependable.”
Cameron was employed by C&S Healthcare, Inc., as an office assistant. Of her many duties, one required working with the pharmacist in the area of customer service. According to Cameron, the best part of the job was speaking with patients and other areas of customer care. She also enjoyed getting to know and help many of the regular patients.
“Sometimes customers would call and ask for me by name,” said Cameron.
“Work-Based Learning provided me with many great opportunities, including the chance to learn new skills and earn money. Through this experience, I have been able to become more organized and efficient.”
Not only did her teacher sing her praises, but Cameron’s employer was equally impressed.
C&S Healthcare shared their appreciation for Camille, calling her a “wonderful employee” and describing her “numerous strengths.”
Cameron graduated from Union Grove High School with a 3.86 GPA as an Interactive Media pathway completer. She plans to enroll in Brevard College this fall to study graphic design and photography.
