LHS Mat Lions continue to make LHS history in Sectionals!

11 Lion Wrestlers going to State Sectionals

The individual portion of the wrestling season started last weekend with the region tournament (01/28).  On the way to winning our second tradition region title (in as many years), 13 of the 14 varsity wrestlers placed in the top 4 to move onto the sectional tournament.

This

weekend the Mat-Lions were at the sectional tournament, which included 29 AAAA

teams.  The top 8 wrestlers in

each weight class earned the right to

participate in the state tournament in Macon next week (Feb. 09, 10, 11).

<The state has two sectional tournaments, which then determines the top 16 wrestlers in each weight class.>

The

Mat-Lions broke a school record by qualifying 11 wrestlers to participate in

the state tournament this weekend.

The 11 wrestlers to qualify are

below.  They are the top 16 wrestlers for their respective weight class in

AAAA.  Please congratulate them if you see them.

120 – Benjamin Preal

126 – Aundarrius Weems

132 – William McNeely
