Schools Earn Silver Award for Greatest Gains

show average CCRPI Progress Score above 93 percent for three years
HENRY COUNTY, GA – Two elementary schools in
the Henry County School System were recently notified of recognition as silver
honor recipients of the Greatest Gains Award from the Governor’s Office of
Student Achievement.
The recognition, a reflection of the 2016
Single Statewide Accountability System, means that both East Lake Elementary
and Rock Spring Elementary earned a three-year average CCRPI Progress Score
that ranked in at least the 93rd percentile.
Henry County Schools was one of only 53
districts out of 180 in the state to have schools recognized with either a
Highest Performing or Greatest Gains school award, and the two schools in the
district are a part of only 218 total schools recognized statewide. Pertaining to just the Greatest Gains award,
East Lake and Rock Springs Elementary are two of only 130 schools in the state
to earn the distinction, and Henry County Schools in one of only 22 districts
with at least one Greatest Gains award school.
Rock Spring Elementary’s CCRPI scores over
the past three years have been 85.1, 85.1, and 86.9. According to the Governor’s Office of Student
Achievement’s school performance reports, the elementary school in the
southeastern part of the county has an overall performance higher than 86
percent of schools in the state, and the school’s students realize academic
growth higher than 92 percent of schools in the state.
East Lake Elementary’s CCRPI scores over the
past there years have been 85.6, 87.1, and 82.2. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement
performance reports indicate that the school has an overall performance higher
than 75 percent of schools in the state, while the school’s students achieve
academic growth higher than 86 percent of schools in the state.
Superintendent Rodney Bowler offered his
praise of the schools upon receiving the news.
“Our schools work extremely hard to ensure
success for each student, and East Lake Elementary and Rock Spring Elementary
are two great examples of this mission recognized,” said Bowler. “We hope to use their success and honor as a
catalyst to help all schools across our district with increasing academic
achievement.”
