HENRY

schools to make the announcements in front of students and faculty. Bowler was
able to present them with mementos to mark the occasion and share the good news
with the unassuming teachers.

Teacher of the Year semifinalists are:
-

-
Dana
Flowers – Timber Ridge Elementary
-
David

These
teachers and 47 more from the remaining schools around the school district will
be honored at the 2016 Harvest of Heroes on Thursday, October 13 at the Henry
County Performing Arts Center.
In
addition to the teachers, there will also be recognition of six HERO Award
recipients. These individuals are
nominated from various categories, including service, transportation, support
personnel, school nutrition, and student service employees. The Henry County Schools Media Specialist of
the Year is also recognized as a part of the HERO Awards.
“We
are excited to recognize our teachers of the year and HERO Award winners at
this very special event,” shared Bowler.
“They do so much for our students and families in the district, and this
event is one grand opportunity for us to recognize those seen as the top
teacher in their respective schools and those employees who have earned the
title of ‘hero’ for their outstanding service to their job and department.”
HERO
Award winners will be announced prior to the Harvest of Heroes celebration.
The
business community has generously supported this event in recent years. Last year’s event saw over $25,000 worth of
prizes and cash distributed amongst teachers and HERO Award winners.
