Rhineheimer Named Georgia Scholar by State Department of Education
HENRY COUNTY,
GA – Union Grove High School senior Nathan Rhineheimer has been named a Georgia
Scholar by the Georgia Department of Education and their Excellence Recognition
Office. This honor is bestowed upon high
school seniors achieving great success in and outside of school.
According to
the eligibility requirements, students up for the recognition must have
exhibited excellence in all phases of school life, in community activities, and
at home. Their course loads over the
past four years of high school have been exemplary and reflect success in
each. They have also successfully
participated in interscholastic events at their school and in their
communities, while they have assumed active roles in school-sponsored
extracurricular activities.
Rhineheimer
is one of 151 students in the entire state to receive the honor.
Ryan Meeks,
principal of Union Grove High School, shared that the school is extremely proud
of Rhineheimer’s accomplishments. The talented
student has definitely proven to be a leader amongst his peers. He has served as co-president of SkillsUSA,
captain of the SkillsUSA quiz bowl team, and front ensemble section leader for
the high school’s marching band.
Union Grove
High School Lead Counselor Dr. Wes Silvey noted just how difficult it is to
receive this recognition.
“It is a very
difficult award to receive due to the high academic and leadership requirement,”
said Silvey. “We absolutely congratulate
Nathan on his recognition as a Georgia Scholar and know that he will continue
his success at the University of Georgia next year.”
In addition
to leadership roles, Rhineheimer has also served the community by volunteering
for Henry County Meals on Wheels, assisting at a local food pantry, and visiting
local nursing homes to interact with residents.
The well-rounded
student will be attending the University of Georgia this fall to major in
political science. He has a career goal
of working in a non-profit corporation setting.
