HCS Teacher of the Year Semifinalists Announced
Six teachers make
next round for district award
HENRY COUNTY,
GA – Henry County Schools made surprise announcements to six teachers on
Monday, September 28 to let them know they were semifinalists for the school
system’s top teaching award.
District
administrators made their way to each teacher’s school to surprise them in
front of their students and colleagues and let them know they were one step
closer to being named Henry County Schools’ Teacher of the Year.
The semifinalist
list includes the following teachers (school and subject taught also included):
- Bonita VanHook-Adams – Cotton Indian
Elementary – Talented and Gifted (TAG)
- Sarah Barnett – Woodland High School – AP English
Literature and Composition
- Lisa Hash – Eagle’s Landing Middle School –
English Language Arts
- Steve McDonald – Woodland Elementary – 5th
Grade Talented and Gifted (TAG)
- Darci Parken – Henry County Middle School –
English Language Arts
- Dr. Mohan Sadhasivan – Stockbridge High School
– Analytical Geometry, Advanced Algebra
There are two
semifinalists from each school level, and the finalists and ultimate winner of
the district award will be revealed during the annual Harvest of Heroes on Thursday,
October 22 at the Performing Arts Center.
HERO Award
winners will be revealed in the coming weeks.
HERO Awards recognize staff members outside of the teaching ranks for
their contributions to the school system.
Categories recognized include service employees, transportation
employees, support personnel, school nutrition employees, student service
employees, and media specialists.
