Hello All,
My life as an educator has transformed me into an investigator. I always want to know what circumstances have created the students I teach. It is my hope that in working with each parent and each of your children, that our encounters will help us better understand the persons that are such an important part of our lives.
I am very proud of my culturally diverse background. I was born and raised in Jamaica, of a Cuban mother and a Jamaican father. For the last 24 years home has been Atlanta, Georgia.
I have taught kindergarten through 10th grade, been a lead teacher, Special Education Administrator, and a student teacher supervisor. This is my 31th year in teaching, having taught in Jamaica for 5 years before moving here and going back to college. During this time, I have acquired 2 BS degrees: one in Elementary Education and one in Emotional Behavior Disorders, a MS in Learning Disabilities and a sixth year degree in Administration and Supervision. I love my job(s) and the young people I have educated throughout the years.
I have two children, a daughter , Catherine who is 21 and a son, Michael who is 15. My 15 year- old son reminds me too often of that "mother's curse"... "I hope when you have children..." but they help to always keep me grounded. He is attending Union Grove High School this year and hopes to solo in one of Aviation Career Enrichment's twin engine aircrafts on March 23 2013.
I have lived or visited many places at various times in my life and I am always amazed at the differences between life as we know it and life as others live it. I am firm in my belief that "Freedom is not free".
