“Get Plugged In”
Our Impact Academy students have the option of participating in any clubs or sports at their home school in Henry County, but we wanted to add a team building event twice a month to offer an opportunity for the students to get to know each other outside of the classroom environment while also helping our larger community. Please watch this link for changes and updates. As needs in our community present themselves, we hope to help bridge the gap and foster a spirit of community amongst our students and to let Henry County residents know that we are “PLUGGED IN”!
Aug 7, 2012 Students interested in sorting canned food can join Ms. Malone at the Helping in His Name Food Pantry. See the bottom of this flyer for location and a link for directions.

12-3 pm **Please email Ms. Malone if you are interested. There is a waiver form that must be signed prior to participation.

Sept 9-14, 2012 Millard Fuller Legacy Build will restore several homes in Henry County. Students that would like to participate will need to have a parent sign a waiver. Ms. Malone will not be able to be there, but the link to sign up is below if you are interested in helping. http://hcfullercenter.org/
Sept 14, 2012 Noah's Ark Located at 712 LG Griffin Rd, Locust Grove, GA. If you are interested in helping with this activity please email Ms. Malone and she will send you the volunteer waiver required by Noah’s Ark. If it is raining or inclement weather this will be cancelled. The time has changed a tad and we will be on site from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Nov. 2, 2012 ; Our first Tuesday of the month will fall on Election Day. We will not volunteer this month at
the food pantry.

April 20, 2013 Hands on Henry *this is a community service event that takes place annually in Henry County. Impact Students that want to participate will need to have a parent sign a waiver (not available yet). This event really does make a difference in our community. We will sign up for a project we can all work on as one big happy Impact Family!
Additionally, the first Tuesday of every month you are invited to join us at Helping in His Name Food Pantry. Please call or email Ms. Malone if you are available from 5:40 pm to 7:30 pm. For more information you can call Ms. Malone or the food pantry directly.

1. Many college applications ask if a student has volunteered in their community.
2. Scholarships for higher education often are given to students who are active in their communities.
3. Scholarly articles reference a correlation to achievement to community activism (Ray, 2004)
4. Impact Academy is made up of fantastic students, families, and educators that are committed to reaching for excellence not only in our academic pursuits, but in creating a community that is PLUGGED IN to Henry County!
