Outlined in this document is the homework policy for
In order for your student to be successful with out-of-school assignments he/she needs:
· To know that
· To know
· A place to do homework:
o If possible, your student should do his/her homework in a designated place, preferably an uncluttered work space free from distractions.
· A schedule for completing homework:
o Help your student establish a schedule for completing homework by having him/her use an agenda.
· Encouragement, motivation and prompting:
o The purpose of homework is for your student to preview, practice and apply and/or elaborate on what he/she has learned. It is not a good idea to sit with your student and do homework with him/her. If your student consistently cannot complete homework assignments alone please contact the appropriate teacher.
What do I do if my student says he/she does not have homework?
· Every student has homework every night.
o If a homework assignment is not given students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes per night to reach the goal of reading 25 books per school year.
o Reviewing notes from the day’s classes—spend about 5-10 minutes per class reviewing notes, or about 20-40 minutes per night.
