"School Counselors are the first line of support for students. Students cannot achieve academically when they cannot cope with social and emotional problems. School Counselors can help guide students in their journey through childhood and adolescence."
-Richard Wong

Welcome Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends!
Picture with family during May 2010 graduation from Georgia State University.
What an honor to graduate with my younger brother, as he received his bachelor's.
My name is Ms. Sandra Sosa and this is my fourth year as a Professional School Counselor at Oakland Elementary School. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Child & Family Development and my Master of Education degree in Professional Counseling from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). I then received my Specialist in Education degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University (Go Panthers!). Currently, I am enrolled in a doctoral program in Professional Counseling & Supervision at the University of West Georgia (Go Wolves!).
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico before moving to the great peachy state of Georgia. I have an adorable Chihuahua by the name of Carlitos, also from Puerto Rico. I love to teach my students about Puerto Rico, its culture, and all it has to offer! Recently, we have a new addition to our family, Ozzie the Aussie (Australian Shepherd).
Can you find Ozzie?
My dogs absolutely love posing for the camera.
I believe every student is capable of reaching high expectations. So, have you set the bar high enough? My desire as your counselor is to work collaboratively with our community and families to ensure the success of all of our students.
If you have any questions regarding Oakland's Counseling Program please feel free to call me at (770) 954-1901 or send me an email at Sandra.Sosa@henry.k12.ga.us. Please keep in mind that I do teach classroom guidance lessons so I may not be available when you call. Simply leave me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I can't wait to meet our entire
