Philena Johnson
Mrs. Johnson

I am Philena Johnson, your assistant principal, and I look forward to working with the children, parents, faculty and staff at Oakland Elementary School.

This is my 21st year as an educator, and each year teaches me new and effective strategies for helping our children grow as life-long learners. Though I am originally from Maryville, Tennessee, I have taught in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia.  I have thirteen years’ experience as an English teacher, two years’ experience as a 9th grade coordinator, and six years’ experience as an assistant principal.

My family and I enjoy living in Henry County.  My husband is a teacher at Luella High School; I have twin girls in 1st grade and my oldest daughter is in 2nd grade at Luella Elementary School.  Having young children at home allows me to see the urgency of teaching our children the skills they need to be successful in a global community.  Ensuring that our children learn these skills is my goal as your assistant principal.

Please be sure to take advantage of every opportunity to visit Oakland Elementary School.  We work as a team to support our children as we introduce the CCGPS (Common Core Georgia Performance Standards) curriculum.  Be sure to check your child’s agenda each night to monitor that homework is completed as reinforcement for each day’s learning.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  We appreciate our parents, and we look forward to working together to ensure success for every child.

I welcome you to Oakland Elementary School, and I thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.
