The Afterschool Enrichment Program is offered at all elementary schools where a sufficient number of students register to participate. Parents must register their children to participate and are required to pay a weekly fee. Registration for the Afterschool Enrichment Program will be held at the individual elementary schools during the scheduled Open House times. Registration after that time will only be held during Afterschool hours. The program begins immediately following school and is available until 6:00 p.m. The program is designed for students who are able to participate independently in age-appropriate activities within a 1:17 instructor/student ratio. Activities are directed by instructors employed by the school system and include social, physical, and educational activities and interaction with other children.
How do parents enroll their children in the Afterschool Enrichment Program?
Registration is held at the beginning of the school year during “Open House” at the child’s school. After this initial registration a parent may register his/her child with the afterschool site coordinator at the child’s school during the hours of 2:30-6:00. Enrollment in the Elementary Afterschool Program is subject to acceptance of a registration form and receipt of the registration fee. Parental failure to disclose information affecting a child’s participation in the
The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, beginning at 2:30 and ending at 6:00 p.m. The program does not operate during weekends, school vacations, holiday periods or staff professional learning days. When schools are closed due to inclement weather students should be picked up immediately.
What is the cost of tuition? If parents are late picking up their child, is a late fee applied?
Weekly tuition of $50.00 is due by 6:00 p.m. on Friday before the week of participation. Failure to pay by this time will result in a $5.00 late fee payable on Monday by 6:00 p.m. If payment including the late fee is not received by Monday at 6:00 p.m., the child will not be able to attend the program until payment and accruing tuition and late fees are paid.
If parents do not pick up their children by 6:00 p.m., a one minute grace period is given and late fees begin to accrue at 6:02 p.m. at the rate of $1.00 per minute.
Can a parent enroll his/her child and then withdraw them without a tuition penalty?
If a child is not in attendance in the Afterschool Enrichment Program for any reason (voluntary, disciplinary, field trips, illness, late fee payments, etc) and the parent wishes for their child to remain in the program, tuition must be paid for the time that the child is not in attendance or the child will not be eligible to attend the program until payment and late fees (if applicable) are paid. There will be no credit given for days students are absent from the program.
If the child will be out of the program for four or more weeks and tuition to hold the spot has not been paid, the child will be considered withdrawn from the program. In order to re-enroll the child in the Afterschool Program, a re-enrollment fee of $25.00 per child plus the upcoming weekly tuition of $50.00 per child is required. This payment is due by the Friday before the week of participation in order for the child to attend the Afterschool Enrichment Program.
For example, if the child is not in attendance in the Afterschool Enrichment Program for fewer than four weeks, the child will not be considered withdrawn and tuition must be paid for those weeks that the child was not in attendance, plus the upcoming week of participation in order for the child to return to the Afterschool Program.
