Student Council leaders are chosen by their 4th or 5th grade teacher as a leader for their school. Student Council members are responsible for setting a good example and being a positive role model for others. The purpose of the Oakland Elementary School Student Council is to promote pride, spirit, service, and achievement in our school.
The following guidelines are required for each Student Council member:
MUST maintain a C/S average on all report cards
MUST display appropriate behavior at all times
MUST try to attend all meetings and events
MUST show respect towards teachers and fellow classmates
Our meetings are held monthly, typically on Mondays or Fridays at 1:30pm for appx. 30-45 minutes. Student Council leaders are also expected to help with certain events like Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week, Service Learning projects, etc. They oversee the School Store, have Flag Pole duty, and other activities and duties. Everything is communicated prior to the event to ensure academic success in the classroom for these students.
