Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Cotton Indian Elementary School for the 2012-13 school year! 

At CIE, our staff is comprised of talented and dedicated individuals who work to support your students on a daily basis.  Our teachers work to get to know each child’s academic abilities, so they can ensure each child has a strong academic foundation when he/she leaves our school! 

As parents, you play a crucial role in your child’s education.  In addition to providing your child with support and encouragement, I invite you to become involved in your child’s education by volunteering at our school, and participating in events and activities that occur throughout the year.   Please complete the volunteer form and return it to your child’s teacher so we may know in what capacity you desire to be involved in the school.  Our Parent Involvement Liasion will work to match parents to volunteer programs that best suit their interest and time availability.

We have planned many events this year that will provide you with the opportunity to learn about what your child is doing on a daily basis in school as well as fun events that provide you with memories you can share as a family. The home-school partnership is strengthened by your involvement, and I welcome you to come into our Family Resource Room to utilize the at home learning resources we have.

It is our goal to keep parents informed and aware of the happenings at school.  We will send home a calendar with report cards each nine weeks so you have advance notice of school events.  You can also locate our calendar electronically via our school website www.henry.k12.ga.us/cie.  We believe that informed parents are the best parents because they are well-suited to assist us in ensuring we are getting the best out of all our students!  Attending school functions with your child shows them you value them and you believe their education is important!

I look forward to working with each of you and your children over the course of this year!  If you have not already done so, please come in and introduce yourself to me, the front office staff, and your child’s teacher(s).  If you have questions or concerns about CIE, please contact me so we can work together to make your child’s school experience a great one.  As a school community, we must work together to set high expectations for our students so they achieve their goals and reach their potential!
