This camp, conducted by Auburn University's Department of Theatre, is an exciting opportunity for rising 9th - 12th grade students interested in the field of musical theatre. This innovative, intensive, week-long residential workshop is designed for music, theatre, dance, and show-choir students of all levels. Auburn University Summer Youth Guitar Workshop     www.auburn.edu/summercamps

The workshop will offer a wide range of musical experiences including group and individual instruction, ensemble coaching, a variety of presentations, and evening artist’s recitals. Students will be placed in ensembles according to their level of experience.  This workshop is open to guitarists of all levels, aged 8 – 18. Beginners are welcome! Program dates: July 26-28th.  Tuition:  Residential - $349 (includes all instruction, housing, meals, recreational activities, workshop photo, and T-shirt. This camp is open to musicians aged 1018 who play violin, viola, cello, and string bass.

The camp will offer a wide range of musical experiences including chamber music, orchestra, and jazz improvisation, as well as a movement awareness session taught by a certified Alexander Technique instructor.  Participants for this intensive threeday residential workshop should have at least two years of instruction (private or class) on their instruments and two years of participation in small and/or large instrumental ensembles. The Youth Entrepreneurship Summer (YES) Camp is a unique non-residential experience offered to Greater Atlanta high school students to expose them to the opportunities associated with entrepreneurship. This two week program is designed for rising 10th & 11th grade, economically disadvantaged students in the Greater Atlanta area to introduce them to the concept of entrepreneurship. ·         The Imagine Computer and Information Science Summer Camps are one- to two-week commuter camps designed to support students as they explore various real-world applications of computing.  This year's camps are offered in two sessions and open to third- to 12th-graders.  Applications currently being accepted.

The Ben Carson Science Academy 4-week program provides enrichment for elementary and middle school students to enhance their knowledge of science, mathematics and health careers. Students are involved in hands-on interactive activities that are designed to challenge them while making the learning of science and math fun.  Program begins 1st week in June.  Applications accepted until class capacities are reached.

 

Camp MAGIK (Mainly About Grief In Kids)         www.campmagik.org

Camp MAGIK, a FREE healing camp for bereaved children, serves children ages seven through high-school who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or other close family member within the past three years.  Camp MAGIK will provide an opportunity for children and teens to meet, talk, and process their grief with professional grief counselors.  Activities may include archery, canoeing, a ropes course, nature hikes, treasure hunts, hay rides, campfires, story-telling, and a talent show. Each camp will be divided into two groups, one for ages 7 - 11, and one for ages 12 - 17.

FSLA is a 3-week immersion language residential program at the Univ. of North Georgia.  Rising 10-12th graders and 2013 high school graduates interested in exploring international-related careers with the federal government will learn the fundamentals of Portuguese and be exposed to the rich culture of Brazil from highly qualified teachers and receive career counseling from federal agency representatives.  Program dates:   June 9th – 28th.  Application deadline:  May 1st.

The Institute provides structured insight on how to expand the writing skills of high school students in preparation for their transition to collegiate level writing. Students will explore strategies on how to write essays for general academic writing, the SAT and ACT, admission into college, and scholarships. The College of Engineering at Georgia Tech has partnered with Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) to offer a 3-week residency Summer Engineering Institute (SEI) with a focus on under-represented minority rising 11th and 12th graders.  SEI’s focus teaches students some of the basic engineering and computer science techniques and challenges students to solve real-world engineering problems with hands on experience.  Application & fee deadline: April 15th (limited scholarships available).
