Note: Effective 6/8/15, applicants with a high school diploma, GED, or who have earned less than 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of acceptable college credit are required to pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment to be qualified for consideration as a Substitute Teacher. Applicants who have earned 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of acceptable college credit, or have earned an Associate’s Degree or higher are not required to take the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment in order to be considered for employment as a Substitute Teacher.
Substitute teachers must be 21 years of age or 18 years of age and have completed fifteen quarter or nine semester hours of college credit.
Substitute Teachers must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED). A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred.
The GACE Paraprofessional Assessment is required for any substitute teacher with less than an Associate’s Degree or 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of acceptable college credit.
The Substitute Teacher must be a person of high integrity, excellent character, and good reputation.
All substitute teachers are required to attend the Henry County Substitute Teacher Workshop prior to being approved as a substitute teacher.
NOTE: The Griffin RESA Substitute Teacher Training is NOT ACCEPTED in lieu of attending the Henry County Schools Substitute Teacher Workshop.
Substitute teaching daily pay rates effective July 1, 2015:
$70 per day for a High School Diploma up to an Associate’s Degree.
$75 per day for a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
Middle and High School Level
$75 per day for a High School Diploma up to an Associate’s Degree.
$80 per day for a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
Long Term Substitute Teachers who hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
Substitutes must hold a valid Georgia teaching certificate and be in the same classroom for at least 10 consecutive days.
$96 per day for Elementary Level.
$101 per day for the Middle and High School level.
Long term substitutes that do not hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate will be paid their normal daily rate.
School hours for the 2015-2016 school year are as follows:
Elementary – 7:45am – 2:25pm
Middle – 8:55am – 4:05pm
High – 8:15am – 3:25pm
