Who Is Mrs. Hawkins?
Mrs. Hawkins is the music and art teacher at Timber Ridge Elementary
I was born in Kansas and moved to Colorado when I was 10. I went to college at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS, a suburb of Kansas City. I then moved back to Colorado where I did my student teaching. The summer after I student taught middle and elementary school, I traveled as a piano player with the Continental Singers, which is where I met my future husband. I then moved to Georgia after James and I married in 2004. I began teaching at Austin Road Elementary in 2004 and then moved to Timber Ridge Elementary when it opened in 2006. In 2008, I received my Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
My interests include playing piano for the past 27 years, spending time with my husband, playing piano for various schools and community events, and participating in multitudes of activities at my church.
In 2012, I had the opportunity to take on the role of the music AND art positions at Timber Ridge.
I took the certification test and became certified in art education.
Since Timber Ridge opened, we have been able to add PTO programs,
4th and 5th grade Music Club, 3rd grade Chorus,
Yearbook Club, and Art Club.
I look forward to seeing the music and art departments continue to grow.
Thank you for your support of the Arts!
